Review
"Thich Nhat Hanh is a holy man, for he is humble and devout. He is a scholar of immense intellectual capacity. His ideas for peace if applied, would build a monument of ecumenism, to world brotherhood, to humanity." —Martin Luther King, Jr."He shows us the connection between personal, inner peace, and peace on earth." —His Holiness The Dalai Lama"Hanh doesn't limit his task to discussing anger between families and friends; he also deals with anger between citizens and governments. That expansive vision is not surprising (Hanh, after all, is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee) but it is refreshing, lifting this book out of the self-absorbed, self-help pile." —Publishers Weekly"Reminding us that small spiritual matters are really large spiritual matters, the author offers wisdom and serenity to comfort readers as they work through anger to a place of 'being peace.'" —Library Journal

Eye opening read, worked well for me in a very short time. All you need is motivation, desire to change, and the will to submit to a viewpoint that will bring peace into your life. Your whole life and everyone in it. Wish I read this when I first got out of the military. Your skill set will remain, but it will not be the primary focus in your mind. This is a change for life, that is loaded with all the tools you need.
I embrace the concepts in this book. I am learning to take care of my anger and not wish it be gone. My anger tells me I'm suffering. Treat it like I would a friend. Self compassion a big theme. New concept to me and I'm doing my best to practice it. Beautiful book.
OMG This book has changed my life. I am still reading it, but it is superb. Thich Nhat Hanh's wisdom is amazing. He is my spiritual Guru and I love his writing. It aligns and centers me and helps me dissolve past disruptive chapters in my life all the while moving forward to a happy future and present. This book ROCKS. I am a buddhist-taoist whom loves learning about spirituality.
I have never enjoyed the simple act of breathing so much. What a gift to be remind to do so throughout the book. I recommend it to anyone with anger or anxiety issues. Or anyone dealing with a friend or family member with similar issues
The book aims only at anger in a relationship , between two,not for those who have anger and are not in a relationshipI have anger against me and I am not in a relationship
I am only thankful it’s an easy read so that I can breeze through the torturing pages of jargon. The entire book is a giant contradiction. He goes through 20 pages saying feel remorse for the antagonist that is causing your anger and that you should walk away practice breath excersises and recognize yourself as the problem. Ok sure. Then after all that he’s saying you should let the bully know he’s upset you. Author himself was obviously an enlightened man but you will go through this book and feel that these are the most clique metaphors and passages with a vibe that he’s just trying to fill up pages on an essay and make a quick buck.
I have also read You Are Here which taught me about mindfulness. Hanh once more invites you to use mindfulness to heal failing relationships. He teaches in this book to let the other person know about your suffering. He teaches that the other person is never the main cause of your suffering. Hanh can be very repetitive in this book. It seems he is saying the same things over and over. Either way this book can help you save a relationship you once cherished and want to feel the same about once more. If you truly desire to mend your suffering, or even the suffering you may be causing your loved ones, read the book. Write the peace letter he speaks of or have the conversation with that loved one. Stay Zen.
This book is amazing. It’s my first introduction to this amazon monk. And my most in-depth experience with the practices of Buddhism. So useable and helping me with finding my way back from years in dry-drunk rage to daily peace and serenity. Not to mention all the help with dealing with people and the world. I recommend big time!!!
